Q. How do I get to your office?

A. We are located in Burlington, NC, off of Hermitage Road (just across the street from Turrentine Middle School).

Q. How soon can I get an appointment?

A. The turn-around-time for scheduling an appointment depends on the number of patients we are currently seeing. We try and schedule patients at the earliest available date.

Q. Will my insurance cover my procedure?

A. Determining how much your insurance will cover depends on how much your employer pays into a dental plan. In general, most employers cover some expenses but not all. Patients must understand they are responsible for paying the portions of their bills that are not covered under their insurance plans. Our office does accept Care Credit to help with financing.

Q. Do you accept my insurance?

A. Our office accepts most insurances plans, though we are not participants in Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plans. We will, however, file all forms to ensure your reimbursement is received.

Q. How much are extractions?

A. We cannot know the answer to that important question without knowing the condition of the tooth/teeth and the patient’s general medical condition. If you are having issues with a tooth or teeth, please contact our office and we will schedule an appointment to examine the problem area. Our staff will have a better understanding of the situation. and be able to accurately inform you of the procedural costs.

Q. How much are cleanings?

A. This is a common question, however, the answer is similar to the question above. Hygienists perform cleanings – or “prophylaxis” – in our office. By North Carolina law, the hygienist must have dentist supervision and an exam is required by the dentist. Cleanings are also often combined with the appropriate radiographs, which can affect the overall cost.

Q. Are veneers a good option for me?

A. Veneers are thin covers that are placed over your existing teeth and can help improve teeth that have been chipped, stained, worn or crooked. One of the benefits of veneers is they can be completed within just a few dentist visits instead of the continued maintenance and adjustment required with braces. Veneers are made of porcelain or composite resin materials. The price differs depending on the material used. Please contact our office if you’d like to set up a consultation and learn more about veneers.

Q. How do I know if I have a cracked tooth?

A. Often, it is difficult distinguishing a cracked tooth and knowing which tooth is sensitive. Sometimes cracks are invisible without the aid of x-rays. The pain of a cracked tooth may be exacerbated by jaw clenching and chewing.

Q. How do you treat a cracked tooth?

A. Procedures for cracked teeth depend on the severity of the crack and the symptoms of the patient. At Mark Kemp Dental, we’ll examine the symptoms and talk with you about the treatments available. Treatments might include repairing your tooth with filling, placing a crown on the tooth for protection, a root canal or if necessary. If the tooth is not restorable then an extraction and implant is often advisable.
