Hygiene and Prevention

Preventative dental care is important at every age and stage of life. At Mark Kemp Dental, this is our greatest area of focus.

According to the National Institute of Health, tooth decay is the most prevalent chronic disease in both children and adults. Through routine care and education, we seek to change this statistic for future generations.

Partnering with parents, we teach children to form good oral health habits at an early age. For adults with a history of decay, we create a plan to stop this cycle and preserve the remaining tooth structure.

Dr. Kemp looks for cavities, early signs of periodontal disease and any other abnormalities that could lead to trouble down the road. Soft tissue management (STM), also know as scaling and root planing is offered for patients with early signs of gum disease.

Preventative care also includes cleanings every six months, dental sealants for children and small conservative fillings as needed. We use digital x-rays to detect decay without exposing our patients to excessive radiation. This technology has been used in our office for seven years and produces high-quality images that can be shared instantly with specialists.
